Sewer Manhole Construction Scheduled for Weekend of Aug 8-11

Crews continue work during night hours Monday through Thursday nights, from 7 p.m. each night until 5 a.m. the next morning, to install sewer pipeline in Scottsdale Road at the Mayo Boulevard intersection. To accommodate this work, Scottsdale Road and Mayo Boulevard are reduced to one lane in each direction with no left turns permitted at the intersection. This work is taking place during night hours to accommodate businesses and the traveling public, and during daytime hours, the work area is covered with steel plates to restore normal travel to the roadway.

Scheduled to take place beginning at 7 p.m. Friday, August 8 until 5 a.m. Monday, August 11, crews will work in the Scottsdale Road/Mayo Boulevard intersection to install a sewer manhole. To accommodate this weekend work, Scottsdale Road traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction shifted to the curb lanes, with no left turns permitted at the intersection. In addition, Mayo Boulevard traffic will not be permitted through the intersection but will be directed to turn right onto Scottsdale Road. Traffic control will remain in place 24/7 throughout the weekend.

Beginning the week of August 11, for approximately 1-2 weeks, crews will work to restore concrete and asphalt at the intersection during daytime hours with minimal traffic restrictions. A slurry seal pavement application is currently being scheduled for sometime in September to complete work at the intersection.

This effort represents one segment of improvements in the city's infrastructure to provide increased wastewater capacity to maintain and provide the high level of service for current and future residents and businesses. The overall sewer system upgrades currently being constructed as part of this project extend from Scottsdale Road, just south of the Loop 101, in a southeasterly direction to Pima Road, just north of the CAP Canal.

Thank you for your patience during this work.
